Dharamsala, a quaint town in Himachal Pradesh, is not only a religious destination for Buddhists, but also a paradise for adventure seekers. The town offers exciting trekking opportunities, one of which is the Snowline Trek. This trek takes you to a serene and snow-covered ridge located at an elevation of approximately 3,350 metres (approximately 11,000 feet) above sea level.
What is the Snowline Trek?
The Snowline Trek is a moderately challenging trek that begins from the charming town of McLeodganj. The total distance covered on this trek is approximately 12 km, and takes about 5-6 hours, depending on the individual’s fitness level. The trek is accessible throughout the year, but most trekkers do this trek during the summer months. The route is also okay during the winter months but one needs to be extra careful around snow.

How to reach the Snowline Trek?
The trek commences from McLeodganj, specifically, the famous Bhagsu Nag Temple. From here, there’s a well-marked trail that takes you through a dense forest patch with oak trees and rhododendrons. You are now on your way to Triund, and the trail is approximately 9 km long. The trek to Triund will take up to 4-5 hours, depending on your fitness. After trekking through the dense forest, the trail opens up to reveal breathtaking views of the Dhauladhar Range and the Kangra Valley.
The temptation to camp out at Triund will be very strong but all you need to do is pull up some more energy for a distance of 3 km. If you start really early from McLeodganj, you will reach the Snowline by noon. Pitching your camp there is so much better than at Triund. Snowline is less crowded and prettier
What to expect from the Snowline Trek?
The Snowline Trek is a remarkable journey that will take you deep into the heart of the Himalayas. The trek is all about breathtaking views, lush meadows, a somewhat challenging trail, and a lot of memories along the way. This trek is an absolute must for those seeking an unforgettable Himalayan adventure.
You will find a camping site right outside the very famous Snowline Cafe. This so-called cafe may be just a tea-stop, but you better believe it when we say that it is the most famous landmark in the area.
From the serene landscapes of Triund to the snow-clad beauty of Snowline, this trek offers a unique experience for nature lovers and adventure seekers.
