Raisa, who turned 35 on July 26, responded by refollowing Gomez on the social media platform and liking her post. She also shared a screenshot of Gomez’s tribute on her Instagram story and added a heart emoji.
The reason behind their alleged feud
The two actresses had been friends since 2007, when they met at a Disney event. They became even closer when Raisa donated one of her kidneys to Gomez, who suffers from lupus, an autoimmune disease that can damage the organs. Gomez revealed the transplant in an emotional Instagram post in 2017, calling Raisa “the ultimate gift and sacrifice” and “my sister.”
However, their friendship seemed to sour in 2018, when reports surfaced that Raisa was upset with Gomez for drinking alcohol after the surgery. Raisa’s father told Radar Online that his daughter told Gomez: “I gave you a kidney to save your life, not to kill it with alcohol.” He also said that the two had stopped talking since then.
The speculation intensified in 2020, when Gomez called Taylor Swift “my only friend in the industry” in a Rolling Stone interview. Fans noticed that Raisa had unfollowed Gomez on Instagram and commented “interesting” under an E! News post about Gomez’s quote, before deleting it.
